14 May 09 - 22:17The Wonders of Dogs

I heard a story on the radio this morning, and this is why dogs are more amazing creatures than us sometimes.  They may be more simple creates depending one the one.  But they seem to have more honor and otherwise than we as people do, when we are supposed to be the more developed or evolved or something.

This particular situation also shows to some degree more honor from people or at least their care for animals.  But in the Bronx, New York of all places, a dog was dying.  I’m not sure if it got hit or if it just had a problem.  But it was in the middle of the road, dying, and there was another dog with it.  So this particular dog sat by the other dog, guarding it, not letting anybody near it, protecting it essentially speaking as it died.  Usually dogs are said to turn on each other to some degree when they get weak or start to die.

This is the second thing I’ve heard lately. ... (more)

06 May 09 - 00:33Spiders Chase

There are a lot of myths about spiders, and there are a lot of facts about spiders.  All I know is I don’t like the little buggers.  I won’t kill them, first of all because I would feel bad, and second of all because I’m afraid they would get to me first.  I would rather just run away.  It keeps my peace with karma good, and frankly, I don’t like taking those kinds of risks with my health in general.

But while there are many things with spiders, there is one major thing with spiders.  They chase you.  I swear upon my life, they may not chase you actually, but they chase me.  My dad actually told me that it was physically impossible for a spider to chase me, that it could not happen because something about the mechanisms in their bodies not working that way or something to that effect. Well I’m living proof that apparently it isn’t that impossible.

I remember years ago, I used to walk a lot, being that I had no car. ... (more)

02 May 09 - 19:30Government Sanctioned Discrimination

Sometimes I had anti discrimination laws, because I swear they get turned into pro discrimination laws. I say this for a reason, and I have my reasons, outside what you usually hear it seems. I mean I could see some people maybe not wanting to use the best eye cream, because they actually want to look older in certain fields. I mean if you’re a 20 year old doctor that looks 15, it shouldn’t be this way if you are qualified. But there are a lot of patients who aren’t going to trust you or want to go to you, because they think you couldn’t possibly know what you’re doing, you’re far too young. But that’s patients. If an employer were to look at you and say well you’re too young despite the fact that maybe you graduated from Harvard, worked in the Mayo Clinic and Johns Hopkins, etc. then that would not be okay at all. But honestly, I mean the fact that they have a certain number of students you have to take in each school of certain races or genders, and the fact that if ... (more)

19 April 09 - 18:51Wasting Time

I found this on another site, and I copied and pasted it, I will admit it.  I won’t pretend it’s mine.  But I just found it so interesting that I had to post it.  BTW, it was on xanga and one of their top 10 at the time, Sunday, today, you get the idea.

"We waste time looking for the perfect lover, instead of creating the perfect love."

The implications of this seemingly simple quote are vast, and my life as changed remarkably since first reading it. Everytime I think of the quote, it teaches me something new about love and others.

We waste time...

Will was two years of my life. Wasted time? No. I'll never say that. I learned a thousand different things and loved greater than I could have imagined prior to knowing him. Love is never a waste of time.

But you know what was a waste of time? The fighting. The screaming. The impatience. Funny, how impatience wastes more time than it saves. Yes, I love him, but ... (more)

18 April 09 - 21:42Tree Cancer

MOSCOW, RUSSIA -- Here's a story that you just can't make up.

Doctors in the Urals region of Russia were amazed when they found a fir tree growing inside the patient's lung.

Surgeons made the discovery when they were doing a biopsy on the 28-year-old man, Artyom Sidorki.

He had complained to doctors of having extreme pains in his chest, and had also been coughing up blood.

His doctors suspected Artyom had cancer. That's when they decided to perform the biopsy procedure to make sure.

But they never imagined seeing a small spruce growing inside the lung tissue. One of the surgeons, Vladimir Kamashev, says, "I blinked three times and thought I was seeing things."

Doctors are convinced the man had somehow inhaled a seed, which began to successfully grow inside his lung.

17 April 09 - 21:58If Scientologist Were Right

I have wondered from time to time if the scientologists are actually right, if toxins are actually responsible for depression and other mental diseases. But then I get back in touch with reality! Stupidest thing I’ve ever heard in my life, especially considering post partum depression has been specifically connected to a drop in the hormones that are apparently really high during pregnancies, which would make sense. And you’re not going through monthly hormone changes during your pregnancy, whereas right after, you go through a long mess of hormones. But as for health, I would say getting rid of toxins and otherwise providing your body with healthy supplements and healthy foods like fruits and veggies would go a long way. I mean obviously if your body is lacking something it needs, it’s going to respond possibly by making you really tired or grumpy or something. But it will also give you cravings that may indicate what you are missing. ... (more)

16 April 09 - 22:39Death And Dogs

Stories about animals always affect me more than stories about people do sadly enough.  But I heard about one dog today, who was riding with his caretaker from Washington to Michigan I think it was.  Somewhere along the way, and this was a huge Siberian Husky from what I understand, the caretaker got in a wreck and flew out the front windshield. The paramedics came, tried to revive her, etc, and she ended up dying there.  This dog stayed by her side the whole time.  I hear that dogs can smell certain things, such as diseases, death, etc.  So when she died, he left.  I've seen dogs who stopped eating, stopped being active or playing, really got ready to die themselves when another dog in the family died, and it's really tragic.  But i've never seen a dog stay by a caretaker like that until they died, simply because most dogs are not there in that kind of situation.  But it then left, and people would see it in the area. ... 15 April 09 - 22:26Charity Does Not Equal Reward

Obama has lowered the amount you can write off when you give charitable donations.  I thought he was a moderate.  But that's not a stance either side would take!  That's just a jerk stance to take!  I mean honestly.  A democrat wouldn't do it, because you want to give people  incentive to help out those less fortunate than themselves and to fund programs that would take care of everybody: the homeless, kids, the sick, etc.  As a republican, you realize that most of those charitable donations are coming from those in higher tax brackets.  So those people are not going to be happy with you if you lower their benefits from that donation.  Middle of the road means that you go somewhere inbetween, not that you go off on the wing and act like an idiot.  I like Obama, but right now, he is getting on my last nerve.
